The ignition switch - what a pain and so frustrating. As far as the clutch goes there has been confusion over the years and back around 1974 my local BMC agent was recommending lengthening the clutch m/s pushrod to address issues of engaging too close to the floor. There is an interesting article in one of Tony Cripps newsletters here well worth a read (as are the rest of his publications). David

Good to see Mark today and spend some time on GLE. And his new caravan. Quick bit of ghetto bodywork on the caravan and then finish off the job we started on GLE last year. Leaky gear selector cables by Penguin 45, on Flickr 9th February I took that picture. 2020.... Moved house on the 14th, then we all got locked up shortly afterwards. Proper project lag! So, nearly 15 months later, we thought we'd better finish the job we'd started and recommission poor old GLE. Got it right 3rd time - housing upside down, followed by cables reversed, before we got it right. Well, it's been along time since it was all dismantled. Being the short@rse, muggins here finished up under the car mounting it all back in, whilst Mark tried to find the missing mounting bobbin to replace the broken front one. As the last fixing went home, he found it. Funny that... Changed the oil filter, filled it with oil and after a small amount of persuasion, she fired right up. Very satisfying. The clutch wasn't stuck on either, which was a pleasant surprise. GLE's back in business.

GLE by Penguin 45, on Flickr Nine days for the leak to manifest itself. Not bad really.... C.

I suspect that all owners of classic British cars will think that referring to a leak in the singular is somewhat optimistic. 😃

The scabby frilly window rubbers have finally given up. I bought some new ones a few years ago so today’s happy hour was going to be to change them. Turns out the metal on the rubbers comes away easy. The metal pins fixing them to the chrome strip however are made of something that doesn’t want to move after 50 years. Untitled by mark atkinson, on Flickr Untitled by mark atkinson, on Flickr Fairly simple to replace. Trim down and glue on. I’ve wound the windows up to hold them in place overnight to let the glue cure. Hopefully by morning they wont be going anywhere.

Mark and I did some Wolseley stuff this morning for a fellow WOC member. Didn't take long, so went over to Snoopy's Kennel to play with GLE this afternoon. Further to the fitting of new weather seals, the drivers window would not descend. The only thing I have to say is "Shorter Screw".... That’s a good idea. Can we do that to my car. Because it’s leaking more now than before it was done last year. So we did! GLE Selector Housing by Penguin 45, on Flickr GLE Selector Housing by Penguin 45, on Flickr There, pictures where you can see what happened. Made a splendid mess in his nice tidy garage as well. The previous gasket had (very quickly) become brittle and literally came off in flakes. Hopefully the application of one of MrsP's supergaskets has done the trick. Snoopy will no doubt report. Chris.

No leaks to report so far. It appears that I currently have a B series engine that’s keeping all its oil inside.
