On the Landcrab Google Groups there is mention of replacing the somewhat unreliable large engine mount with a different type that has two parts. As I understand it there was a modified mounting used in Oz and I have seen mention of modifying a Land Rover engine mounting.
Keef asked on the Google site if anyone had any photos of alternative mountings, maybe someone on this more active forum knows. I am interested as the roads in Thailand can be very rough and should I be successful in my search to get a Landcrab here, it is one mod that would be essential.
I recall my Mk111 car broke a mounting at night and it pulled the power lead connector off leaving me with no lights, great fun!

I have one of the Australian mounts in my garage. A friend took the trouble to bring one over for me. The problem is it is a different length to the normal mount. It is too short to reach across the engine bay.
I suppose It could be modified. I just refitted the old one. I understand Tony Wood can supply a modified mounting that has a plate fitted to stop total failure.
Regards Kels.

The uprated mounts are available from Tony at the club.
They are so good that you can use it with out the engine shock absorber.
Got one on my 'S'

I am confused because you say the new one will not fit. If you look at the pic you can see the new mount fits in the same holes. Is this the mount as fitted to the car? I have since removed the shock as this lets me fit a larger battery (075)

Sorry if I was unclear, the mount I got from Australia comprised the metal cross bar with two rubber mounts attached.
The problem is that the metal crossbar was shorter in length and would require different attachments to the body to be made up and welded to the car.
I suppose the bar itself could be lengthened, I gave up when it was not a direct replacement.
I would be interested to know about the mountings Tony Wood supplies, any pictures of them?
Regards Kels.
