www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b033664h/Britain_on_Film_Series_2_Road_Rail_and_Runways/Watched one of the those Britain on Film compilations last week about transport. I think they were once shown as short films before a main feature in the cinemas. Anyway at 20 minutes into this one is an early Austin 1800 on a handling circuit at MIRA or similar. It's only on for a few seconds but worth a look in your tea break. BBC usually only keep these on for a week so may not be there very long. There are other cars in all the street scenes too. I spotted a dark blue 18/85. Nick

Someone's decided to post it on Youtube; not sure of the rights and wrongs of that, but for now those who want to watch can see the landcrab in the last minute of the film. MIRA is just down the road from me and the frontage of the place is still recognisable nearly 50 years later. I think I'll put some "Look at Life" DVDs on my Christmas list Nick

Thanks Nick, I can now watch it at last. There's lots of UK TV stuff on Youtube including full series. I think it gets pulled every now and then. It's handy though as the TV provider here will buy part of a series and then stop it, most frustrating. Now they've even lost the contract for Premier League Football, but maybe that's a blessing as my team only bring me misery every weekend regards David Someone's decided to post it on Youtube; not sure of the rights and wrongs of that, but for now those who want to watch can see the landcrab in the last minute of the film. 1800 SInteresting 1800 S in this film clip. I've never seen wheels like that before but I think it really suits it. Anyone know the country? Nick

Lots of wheels from Rovers fit - P5, P6, SD1 apparently all go on.
Might be in Portugal?
Chris.

Speedwell wheels, look great! Would really like some.
This is Jose's car. He's a member of the Landcrab fan club on facebook (made by myself), but don't think he's here (yet?)
He's in Portugal and has loads of BMC/ BL cars. The S was advertised on carandclassics.co.uk (?) a year ago or so, at a reasonable price. I think I made a thread about it here, under crabs for sale. Seemed to be in amazing, original condition.
I'm glad it ended up with an enthusiast:-)

And Earls Court 1964. Disappointingly very little about the 1800 compared to stuff launched the previous year. Earls Court 1964This is worth a seeing through to the end. It's surprising what you can get an a PC Cresta. 1965 filmNick

Another one from Chicken Paté newsreel concentrating on research at MIRA. Lots of the 1800 on the various handling circuits. It look much less roly-poly than the Rover. Nick Pathe
