Thanks to this forum and especially Alexander...thank you very much for posting the advert,I have bought and imported the Dutch 18/85 S .After a bit of sorting out on the transport front it arrived here last Thursday. I have pictures but regret have failed miserably to attach them....sorry Chris,I will have another go.Managed to get one of it in all it's deflated (broken suspension pipe) glory on the trailer attached to my login page. It's now in a friends workshop...(ex BMC technicians who volunteered to mend it ) to fix the suspension...after that we will have to see if it will run...it's been off the road for twelve years...but we live in hope the engine is ok. If anyone has or knows where I can find an aircleaner box lid please tell me as it is missing...along with the grille badge and the windscreen washer switch . Best wishes to all, David

Yay! Look forward to seeing what you're up to.
I've got twin carbs on mine (Not an "S") and in 11 years have never had a sniff of a twin carb air box, never mind the lid. Which is why they run a pair of K&Ns and I put up with the induction noise. Still, you never know...
Pictures. Quite seriously, please upload them through a hosting site. The links don't use up our bandwidth, which is starting to get a little tight. Much as I love you all, I don't really want to pay out for extra storage space. All my stuff goes up through Photobucket. Other sites are available - lots of people use Flickr, which I don't get on with very well, but it and Photobucket are the "biggies", so there shouldn't be an issue with data being lost.
Chris.

Many thanks Chris....I'm hoping we can get it Mot'd and on the road.I had thought maybe that air box was unique to the S,guess I will have to make a new lid then, the rest of it is there. I did the Photobucket thing, and even got the address of the pictures on a post, but when I posted it....no pictures . Computers are not my thing so I don't know what I have done wrong. I should be able to go and see it tomorrow to see how we're getting on,so I will take some more pictures and have another go at it !

Hello David, Looking forward to learning more about your new car. If you end up trying to use flickr I am happy to post a how to do flickr piece as I found it difficult until I saw a how-to on another forum.

Hi Nick, Thank you very much for your offer....I'll take some new pictures and see how I get on.As for the car ,it is a July '70 S...it's done ( I assume ) 135K Kms...it's shows 35k on the speedo,it's manual...and Brown, solid colour. I'm showing my ignorance here ,as I dont know the colour name exactly,I have never seen the colour before, but I will find out what it is called...my excuse is that I have only owned Fords for the past 30 years.Structually it's fine, all original ,bar one well done repair to the passenger side floor. There's a small hole in the front panel and another in the passenger side wing next to the sill .There's a rusty bit on the scuttle, and paint grazed off a rear wheelarch and corner of the bonnet, but all the rest is all original ,and good ,and rustfree.I'm sure I won't to have to repaint it all, just the front end and arch, and retain the original paint on the rest of it.It needs a new front carpet, the drivers seat needs repair and the headlining has dropped around the rear screen...but I have an excellent trim man who will sort that out. It's missing its grille badge, aircleaner lid,and the windscreen washer switch (bizarrely !) and maybe the pin from the drivers side rear 1/4 window.Someone has 'souveniered' its hubcaps, but I have already found some more . If the engine is ok,and I can source the service bits....we should be away . I am absolutely amazed to have found it...I have looked for an S of any model for 15 years...if it won't go....I'm happy just to sit in it !
